The TriBeCa restaurant scene may be relatively new compared to other parts of the city, but it has boomed in the last two decades, transforming itself into one of the most modern centers of culinary creativity in all of Manhattan. Here are our choices for must-dine experiences in this increasingly chic neighborhood.
Acapella – 1 Hudson St
The Sopranos may have used this exquisite Northern Italian restaurant on location before, but Acapella has a flair for the dramatic in more ways than one – most notably in their table-side cooking habits. Chefs at Acapella enjoy putting on firey shows for their-always-impressed diners, whether it’s during a meaty main course, or setting alight the liquor on a Flambé Dessert. Acapella is definitely pricey, but the flawless food and fondness for flames makes it worthwhile
The Odeon – 145 W Broadway (Revisit, click on link for location and original review.)
As one of the original TriBeCa restaurant hotspots, the legendary Odeon still deserves your patronage – and not just for old time’s sake. Aside from the excellent service and bustling NYC atmosphere, it’s hard to find a dish on The Odeon’s French/ American/ Italian menu that isn’t cooked to perfection. The high prices aren’t to everybody’s liking, but they’re always balanced with huge portions, so we think it’s fair. Just make sure you get the warm doughnuts for dessert – absolutely divine.
Nobu – 105 Hudson St (Revisit, click on link for location and original review.)
If you’re looking for a dining experience that might well include some celebrity sightings, then Nobu is the place for you. Not only is Robert De Niro a co-owner of the fashionable Japanese restaurant chain, but the TriBeCa sushi house is also frequented by the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Pink, Ashton Kutcher, Beyoncé and LeAnn Rimes. As you would expect, the sushi is exceptional and creative, but at the higher of the scale, price-wise.
Landmarc – 179 West Broadway
If you’re hankering after a steak and find yourself out of your apartment and in TriBeCa one evening, get yourself over to Landmarc for some of the finest fair for carnivores in the entire city. The joy of chef Marc Murphy’s duplex restaurant is that you have the option here of keeping things simple with a burger and fries, or taking a walk on the wild-side with the likes of roasted bone marrow (which is, of course, served in the bone) or chicken liver mousse. Landmarc is also an unpredictable and fresh place for breakfast.
Terroir – 24 Harrison St
There are four Terroirs across the city, but the TriBeCa location is our favorite. Describing itself as “the elitist wine bar for everyone”, Terroir also has a wide range of culinary delights on offer to wash down all that vino, from extensive cheese and charcuterie options, to some incredibly creative snacks – our favorite being the red wine and oxtail risotto balls. The salads on offer are some of the best in the city and the atmosphere is always a joy.
